| Penbontbren is different, even by Welsh Rarebits
standards. Situated in farming country close to the Cardigan
Bay coast, this rural retreat offers a rare taste of rustic
Wales accompanied by all modern comforts. Although muddy boots
are a thing of the past at Penbontbren, you'll know immediately
that this was once a working farm. The old stable, granary and
barn have been transformed by an award-winning conversion into
attractive bedrooms complete with all those thoughtful little
touches. Across the courtyard, other traditional stone outbuildings
now house a lounge, bar and restaurant. It's a relaxed and friendly
place, serving honest country cooking that takes advantage of
the wide range of fresh produce on Penbontbren's doorstep. |
Owners Miles and Jacky Glossop make special efforts
to maintain Penbontbren's links with the local community. In
addition to the locally sourced food, there are paintings everywhere
by local artist Pamela Morris-Jones - and be sure to ask Miles
for a guided tour of the fascinating little farm museum, a place
full of memories of Penbontbren's days as a working farm. The
hotel guarantees peace and tranquillity. It is located in an
idyllic, secluded valley, enveloped by green farmland and woodland.
Yet it's truly a case of the best of both worlds, for Penbontbren
is only a few miles from the spectacular Cardigan Bay Heritage
Coast and the picturesque seaside villages of llangranog and
New Quay. |
