Aberaeron
The picturesque town of Aberaeron in Ceredigion has something for everyone!
A green field, surrounded by attractive Georgian houses provides a unique focal point for the centre of the town, known as Cae Sgwar or 'the Square Field'. Many of the surrounding Georgeon houses still possess the trademarks of the original builders on the keystone designs above the doors and windows. Llanerchaeron and the beautiful 'Milford House' ( also known as 'The Stamp House' after featuring on a postage stamp in 1970) have become places visitors to Aberaeron must go an see. Above Aberaeron Sea Aquarium there is also a collection of photographs of old Aberaeron taken by Percy Lloyd on glass plates in the 19th century - well worth a look.
Newcastle Emlyn
Newcastle Emlyn is a quaint little market town in Carmarthenshire with a strong sense of community, unhurried charm and fabulous scenery.
Newcastle Emlyn grew up around a crossing point over the Teifi, where its swooping meanders made the site a natural defensive position. Built in 1240 by the Normans, the town's ruined castle and beautiful scenery provides an excellent backdrop for a stroll along the riverside. The castle is tucked away at the bottom of a dead-end Castle Terrace, just off the main street by the little stone town hall.
Llandysul
Llandysul is a market town in the Welsh county of Ceredigion, West Wales with the twin community of Pont Tyweli, which lies directly across the Teifi River in Carmarthenshire.
Aberystwyth
Aberystwyth is the principal holiday resort and administrative centre of the west coast of Wales. It is also home to the University of Wales Aberystwyth and the National Library.
The town is nestled between three hills and two beaches, and hosts some castle ruins, a pier and a harbour. The surrounding hills hold the visible remains of a iron age fort and also a monument to Wellington and once climbed offer stunning views of Cardigan Bay.
New Quay
New Quay is a picturesque resort village in Ceredigion and was once a flourishing shipbuilding centre and fishing port.
Built on terraced slopes falling steeply to a crescent beach of golden sand and a sheltered harbour where small local fishing boats and pleasure craft still come and go. Amongst the people of Wales, New Quay remains one of the favourite places to go for a weekend away at any time of year.
